Need assistance getting your career at Texas State off to a good start? The following links provide access to administrative offices, policies and procedures, and other teaching, research and service related information.

Administrative Links

These links will ease you into your teaching position at Texas State. 

  • Human Resources - HR handles your benefits as a tenure-track faculty member at Texas State. Questions regarding your faculty benefits should be directed to them.
  • Tenure and Promotion Policy, Procedure and Vita Forms - The policies and procedure information and accompanying forms regarding tenure located in Academic Affairs Policy and Procedures Statement 8.10 provide information you need to know about tenure at the university-level at Texas State. You will submit yearly reviews and will submit a tenure packet when you apply for tenure. To aid in each review, you need to use the University vita form.
  • International Office - Visit the International Office to learn about resources available for your international students and for faculty members. Also, if you are an international faculty member, please notify this office and be sure to attend the International Faculty Orientation.
  • Office of Disability Services - Notify this office if you have a disability. Also, consult this office to learn how to accommodate students with documented disabilities. You should also include a disability statement on your syllabus. Visit their website for an example of a disability statement.
  • Faculty Senate Website - The Faculty Senate governs faculty members. This site provides a table of contents to Faculty Senate documents.
  • Notary Services - Information on where to get something notarized.

Policy and Procedure Links

These links will familiarize you with some of Texas State's important policies.

  • Texas State University Policies and Procedures - You will commonly hear people refer to a University-level policy and procedure statement as "UPPS". The site catalogs the complete collection of university-level policies and procedures. Check here, first, when you have questions regarding a UPPS.
  • Academic Affairs Policy and Procedures - You will hear people refer to a Texas State University academic policy and procedure statement as a "PPS". Check this catalog of statements, first, when you have questions related to academic affairs.
  • Faculty Handbook - The Faculty Senate put together a Faculty Handbook. You will review the handbook during orientation. It is available at the Faculty Senate website for your reference and convenience.
  • Round Rock Higher Education Center Faculty Handbook - The Round Rock Higher Education Center has an additional faculty handbook applicable to that campus.
  • Texas State University Mission Statement - Texas State University is guided by Lyndon B. Johnson's statement: "The noblest search is the search for excellence." We apply the search for excellence to our student-centered teaching and all educational needs.

Research Links

These links can help you fund and carry out your research projects. 

  • Office of Sponsored Programs - Get help finding, writing, and applying for grants and foundation funds. All applications must go through the OSP.
  • Testing, Research-Support and Evaluation Center (TREC) - Get help conducting your research or number crunching in addition to running statistics about your tests and quizzes.
  • Library Services - Access all of the library's online services, including online databases, online journals and books, as well as bibliographic software and other research tools.

Online Services

Here are links to the online services Texas State provides to help facilitate faculty members in their daily activities.

Note: These services require a user login and password.

  • TRACS - TRACS is a Teaching, Research, and Collaboration System. You may have used Blackboard, WebCT or another course-management system. TRACS is our (open-source) management system, and we join other universities in creating it.
  • Bobcatmail - Bobcatmail is the University's email system. You can check your Bobcatmail any time anywhere you have web access and you can download your mail onto your campus computer using a pop-mail program.  You need a NetID to access Bobcatmail.  At New Faculty Orientation, you will learn the current procedures for obtaining your NetID.  Once you have your NetID, you can look at Texas State University's email help details or call (512) 245-HELP.
  • CatsWeb Faculty and Staff Services - CatsWeb provides a variety of services that range from checking on parking permits or tickets, to looking up course schedules, the number of seats available in your classes, and submitting grades. If once your NetID becomes active you cannot access CatsWeb, you may have to follow the CatsWeb authorization procedures.
  • SAP Portal - The SAP Portal is used to access Employee Self Service to view your pay statement, check your leave balances, or change your home address.  Your User ID is your Net ID; click on "Get Support" to reset your password.  SAP is also used to perform administrative functions for human resources, purchasing, and accounting.  It will be especially important if you are a grant manager.  Help is available from the Technology Resources website.
  • Texas State Counseling Center - The Center provides a useful site for faculty to consult when concerns about their students arise.  The website has a faculty links for situations that necessitate consultation or referral.
  • P.A.W.S. Alert - The P.A.W.S. Alert website describes procedures that a faculty can use to channel a concern about a student's academic or personal issues.  Students will be contacted by appropriate offices in an effort to make a successful intervention.
