New Assistant Professors at Texas State University-San Marcos are expected to participate in the Program for Excellence in Teaching and Learning. The program consists of eight sessions dedicated to strengthening teaching and learning, creating an awareness of various university resources, and addressing the tenure and promotion process. The goals of the program are to inspire teaching excellence as well as to instill a sense of community among the new faculty on campus.
Most sessions are scheduled in Alkek 105/106. An optional lunch is typically served at 12:15 p.m. Participants will be contacted via TRACS e-mail prior to each session. The programs will begin at 1:00 p.m. and last until approximately 3:30 p.m. Sessions for the academic year 2012-2013 will normally be held on the last Friday of the month.
During the first session, partipants will sign a contract indicating their intent to participate in the program. Upon satisfactory completion of the Program for Excellence in Teaching and Learning participants will receive a certificate, an award, and up to $800 in travel funds to attend conferences supporting excellence in teaching and learning.
